When you sign up for Microsoft 365, you also need to provide an alternate email address that’s not connected to Microsoft 365. Set up and use an alternate email address The domain part of the user ID is either the domain that you chose when you signed up for Microsoft 365 or another domain-for example, your organization’s custom domain-that you’ve added to Microsoft 365.įor example, if you chose as a domain name when you created your account, and you’re creating a user account with the user name colin, the user ID would be you want to use your custom domain for user IDs and email addresses, see Add a domain to Microsoft 365. You’ll create a new user ID, with a unique user name, for each user account that you add to your subscription. The following information is for Microsoft 365 admins only.
